"Dammit!" Hisoka coughed and waved smoke away as the spell he had tried literally blew up in his face. He scowled. It was supposed to be simple fuda magic. Why couldn't he get it right?
Hisoka turned his head. "What?" he snarled.
Tsuzuki shrank back. "I heard a noise, and I wanted to make sure you were okay."
"I'm fine. Go away."
Tszuki saw the book on the table. "Oh, that spell's hard. The trick is your voice pitch and--"
"Didn't I say I was fine? Leave me alone!"
"All right," Tsuzuki said in a small voice. "Sorry." He left without another word.
Hisoka turned back to the book, glaring at it fiercely. Why did Tsuzuki always have to treat him like a child? He could do this himself!
He tried to pay attention to the instructions, but the memory of Tsuzuki's wounded expression kept intruding. He tried to ignore the little disapproving voice that noted that Tsuzuki had only been trying to help.
Frowning, Hisoka grabbed the book. He found Tsuzuki sitting in the next room, looking miserable. Hisoka sat down. "You said something about voice pitch," he said gruffly. Tsuzuki beamed. Hisoka pretended not to notice.
